ice cream, gelato and frozen desserts in the east
/ Mamma ErinSummer days are here to stay and a frozen dessert is here to make everybody’s day!
Here is Mamma’s list of where to get an ice cream, gelato or frozen treat when the mercury rises and a treat is on the cards.
If you have a sweet tooth - Mamma knows the place for you to indulge! Goodie Two Shoes in Officer is the newsest dessert bar on the block, and here you are spoilt for choice of sugary goodness!
Mamma LOVES ice cream, Mamma’s boys LOVE ice cream, everyone LOVES ice cream don’t they?
YOMG Rowville, at Stud Park, is what we like to think of as a quick win. Somewhere Mamma KNOWS the kids will find something on the menu to satisfy a hunger, there is heaps of room to relax while we wait for the meal AND if they play all their cards right, there is dessert waiting around the corner.
When it comes to ice cream, Mamma doesn’t normally say ‘just a little bit’. With their gelato sourced from local ingredients and made in-store it certainly is hard to have just a little bit.
We LOVE finding sweet treats that are a little more special than usual. Kōri Ice Cream on Glenferrie Road in Hawthorn fits this one to a tee! The ice cream here is Japanese inspired but imagined and created right here in Melbourne.
If your family loves a sweet treat served in a cone, or even a quick afternoon treat in the warmer months, this dessert bar is something else! Meno Zero know their desserts and they never ever disappoint. The freezers are full of gelato and in some pretty amazing flavours.
Mamma has never had an ice cream like the ones you will find at Kariton Sorbetes. This frozen treat shop - artisanal gelato if you please - is a real mix of influences and most significantly Filipino flavours.
The incredible flavours are now being served in this second store and Mamma is THRILLED. We popped in to fine all of our favourites rosewater, choc mint and baclava. As well as some new front runners - the berry and white choc is delicious. This is ice cream at its finest and in Croydon.
Nestled in the tiny little town of Millgrove along the Warubrton Trail is Cookie Grove. The Ice Creamery sources all local ingredients from the Yarra Valley and is dishing out some sweet stuff. Mamma definitely recommends the Caramel Slice Ice Cream- YES it really does taste like it.
This tiny little bar is what dreams are made of! Featuring an entire wall with every flavour of cordial from the famous Billson’s Brewery - you can order cordials, sodas, milkshakes and even spiders at this Soda Bar in Beechworth.
We got the scoop for you!
A new Ice creamery/lolly shop has opened up in the Yarra Valley. We Got The Scoop has a great name, and great tasting ice cream. There is also a wall filled with lollies, and gifts that look or smell like lollies!
Mamma knows the place to go when hunger strikes - SCOOPDOGGZ! This homage to hip hop heroes is all about hot dogs and the most famous Dogg of them all - Snoop!
You can’t go past a smoothie! When it is too warm OR too late in the day for code, this Mamma can’t go past a super fresh and ice cold smoothie.
Hold the front door - this has to be some of the most delicious ice cream that this Mamma has EVER had! Mastika is the newest ice cream shop on the block and you are going to LOVE this jungle inspired shop.
Chocoholics must stop here! A chocolate factory with a cafe menu that is out of this world. Mamma's kind of heaven!
When we think of Belgrave - we think of trains. Which makes the name Choo Choo SO perfect for a brand new bubble tea shop …. in BELGRAVE.
Mamma felt like a kid in a candy store....actually Mamma was EXACTLY like a kid in a candy store at this sweet sweets store in Warrandyte.
There is a new gelatery in town and your kids will be begging you to visit. Augustus Gelatery has landed in Upper Ferntree Gully and you have 32 flavours to work your way through.
Have you ever tried Bingsu? This Korean dessert made from shaved ice and Bing Chillin serve these bowls of frozen deliciousness 7 days a week!
