mathias track, olinda
/Situated in the Dandenong Ranges, Mathias Track is a lovely, relatively easy and dog friendly walking track. It’s around 8km return, Mamma definitely didn’t get to explore the entire track with weary little legs by her side. The walk is quite flat and boasts beautiful views of the Dandenongs in all its glory.
It can be quite popular on the weekends with horse riders, dog walkers and cyclists. Mamma had both the pram and her 3yr olds bike, the track is suitable for both (depending on your pram type) although may be little bumpy at times with lots of loose stone. Mamma’s little one wasn’t too keen on spending the whole walk in the pram, often hopping out to explore the giant trees, bark, views and even managed to find a small creek bed.
You can start the track either at Falls Rd (just past the Dandenong Ranges Botanic Gardens) or Silvan Rd. Mamma can definitely understand why it’s so popular- it’s beautiful, you get to enjoy some fresh air, great scenery, get your body moving and your little ones can explore nature at its best.
the nitty gritty
no toilets - pram friendly - dogs on-leash
Mamma's special mention: Be sure to check out the new Chelsea Australian Garden @ Dandenong Ranges Botanic Garden while you’re there.
