Summer means CHERRIES! And you can’t miss the opportunity to pick your own. Cherryhill Orchards has two wonderful locations for picking - in Wandin and here in Coldstream. This orchard is HUGE. Rows upon rows of beautiful cherry trees, producing the beautiful sweet red fruit that tells Mamma that Christmas must be on its way!
A visit to the orchard is a family friendly adventure. Once you check in at the main building, you will board a mini bus that will take you to the BEST trees on the day for picking. The crew show us what you are looking for when you pick and then off you go! The kids can fill a bucket and eat their hearts out. You are looking for the deep red cherries, ones with no splits (or what we call ‘bums’) in the bottom and keep the stem on if you can.
You pay for what you pick (calculated by weight) at the end of your session and you can have up to 2 hours in the orchard … although we needed about 45 minutes. Once you have enough, the bus returns to the main zone where you’ll find a cherry filled shop, with plenty of merchandise and cherry flavoured treats! You must try the icecream, complete with a cherry on top! You can also pre order lunch packs from Mary Eats Cake on weekend (preorder 24hrs before visiting). There’s lots of space to spread out with picnics, play the giant lawn games and have a ride of the classic CherryHill tractor.
You MUST prebook your picking sessions have capped numbers. Some visitors were turned around at the gate as the time slots were at capacity. Make sure you plan ahead!
