tim neville arboretum, ferntree gully
/Tim Neville Arboretum Playground has now reopened with a fresh face lift.
In Mamma’s house, we have always called this the Dragon Park, with its green Loch Ness at the top and beautiful concrete sculpture at the base of the hill. These guys are still here and now, the low lying dragon features water play! This is a first for the City of Knox and although it is just three water sprayers, that will do the trick for cooling down once the weather gets warmer.
Other favourite features that remain include the castle cubby, the wooden stocks, a sand pit with shade cover, the rope climbing pyramid, and - maybe the most important feature - it is still fully enclosed and gated. The flying foxes are still what Mamma’s kids love the most and this now has a new barrier fence from the main play space to prevent any little ones getting in the way of the fly zone.
All paths have been resurfaced, swing structure replaced and lots of rubber matting installed - great for around the new slide.
The Arboretum is also a beautiful place for a picnic with BBQs and plenty of seating, both close to the playground and around the wider park. Don’t forget to have a stroll over to the lake and the wetlands. The gardens are beautiful and you might even meet a family of ducklings!
the nitty gritty
fully fenced and gated - mobility swing - flying fox - suitable for crawlers and toddlers - public toilets - walking trails nearby - BBQs - picnic shelters - water nearby
Mamma’s Special Mention: Need coffee or milkshakes before the play? Head to Cafe Brontos up the road.
