howitt park playground, bright

Playgrounds don’t get much more stunning than this. This largely timber adventure playground (structurally updated in 2024) sits on the banks of the Ovens River and is surrounded by the grand old trees that Bright is famous for - changing their glorious colours as the seasons pass.

The playground has all the slides, bridges, swings, nooks and crannies you need to keep them entertained for ages and can hold lots of kids without feeling too busy. The playground sits in the larger Centenary Park, and there is some bench seating and picnic tables dotted around to take a rest, but be sure to wander over the bridge and through the whole wider park as well.

Most of the playground is afforded the shade of Brights towering trees though the pencil swing and monkey bar area is exposed to the elements so be sure to slop slop slap!

The Splash Park is a great way for the little ones to cool off in the summer - the older ones may prefer the slide that goes down the into the river! There are several access points to Ovens’ banks which allows for some fun rock skipping and water play in the river itself!
