Did you miss the Royal Melbourne Show this year? Was it a little out of your price range to take the family? Or did it rain on the day you were planning to go? NEVER FEAR because the Lilydale Agricultural and Horticultural Show is HERE and this smaller scale agricultural show is running all weekend. You can the fam can spend a couple of hours exploring the showgrounds this and Mamma says - there is plenty to see and do.
There were stack of highlights in previous years including the amusement rides and fairground games, showbags (yep - Bertie Beetle for Mamma!), woodchopping, food stalls, horse showing, highland dancing and safety demonstrations. Respite from the sun was found in the show pavilions. The main stage is pumping with music, dancing and reptiles. You will find plenty for the kids to explore too at the Melba Park end of the grounds - the smoke house and CFA displays, free petting zoo AND lots of local community groups. You will be hard pressed to find a more exciting spot to be this weekend in Lilydale. The event continues into the night with a twilight stage and fireworks display and then back it up again on SUNDAY!
Mamma's special mention: Best parking spot (unless you are lucky and get a close one) is at St Patrick Primary School. It has access to the side entrance and heaps of spots, just a little bit of a walk to the main affair.
