Well, it’s confirmed. Blueberries taste 200% better when you pick them directly from the bush and when these bushes are in the BUSH … it makes for an all-round, great family activity. Castella Blueberries is a family owned and operated blueberry u-pick and found in the Murrindindi Shire in the North East. Open on weekends during the blueberry season (generally January and February), this experience will be loved by all.
Simply grab a bucket and head into the patch to pick away. There are a number of varieties planted here, so do taste test to see which you like the best, but rest assured, they all are super delicious. The ripe berries are very easy to pick with a gentle knock they will come loose and unto your hand. We easily filled two buckets without too much adult help.
You pay by weight for the berries that you pick and they will be filling our tummies over the next week!
Mamma’s special mention: There is lots to see and do in the Toolangi area, especially in the great outdoors. Head to the sculpture trail or further into the bush and discover the beauty of the Wirrawilla Rainforest Walk.
