blue lotus water garden, yarra junction
/Well, well. Mamma has found paradise. Once you step into the amazing oasis of the Blue Lotus Water Garden you get lost in a vast sea of majestic and lush greenery, including pretty waterlilies and lotus flowers and banana palms. There are literally thousands of plants to see. The property covers 14 acres and was previously a market garden which has been transformed by Geoff and Yvonne Cochrane well over a decade ago.
There are plenty of idyllic spots to explore with lakes, ponds and lagoons, bridges to walk across, so many lovely picnic spots AND a fantastic fairy garden for the kids. There are stacks of cubbies, little fairy homes and even a wishing well.
Once we head through the gardens themselves, our favourite game is finding all the hidden items on the spotto list. Then, of course, the 4 greenhouses that home the amazing rare plants - like the Giant Amazon Lilly!
Take a picnic or eat at the cafe (you must try the lotus root chips) or cook up your own BBQ. There is also a gift shop and a nursery in the front to create your own mini lily paradise! What a great, affordable day out in the Yarra Valley.
The trails are pram friendly and the kids will love exploring and stopping over the bridges (just to check for trolls of course). There is plenty of water about so close supervision is required at all times, but you will love it.
