central gardens 'rocketship', hawthorn
/5 4 3 2....FUN! It's easy to see why this playground is an absolute winner and with a new facelift and a lot of restoration, the Rocket Park is bound to stay in the memories of Boroondara families for years to come.
The rocket ship park has been reborn and is OUT OF THIS WORLD. The theme of the day is space. From the unmissable rocket, to planetary stepping stones, a giant astoroid, a constellation shelter and mission control climbing tower, it is a space-lovers dream. There are swings, monkey bars, the old (but restored) merry-go-round, as well as a water pump and river bed for some splashing play.
There are heaps of things to discover and Mamma’s kids even spotted some space junk hidden around the rocks and some moon boot footprints left by an intergalactic adventurer!
Once you've got the wriggles out go for a stroll through the lush gardens. Parking is limited to 2 hrs at the entrance and most of the surrounding streets is permit parking.
the nitty gritty
public toilets - free parking - limited shade over playground - bbqs - plenty of space for picnic - water play - expression swing
Mamma's special mention: Coffee is nice and close by! Give Meet Me There Cafe on Burwood Road. They even have an outdoor courtyard.
