“meet you at the zoo” these school holidays!

These school holidays are the time to catch up with all our family and friends, and there is no better place to meet up than the Zoo!

There are new adventures to be had at every one of our amazing Zoo’s - a trip to the Savannah at the Werribee Open Range Zoo maybe? Or a koala encounter at Healesville Sanctuary? Or a walk with the lemurs at Melbourne Zoo?

Experience all of them these holidays and create some magical memories……and remember kids under 16 are FREE over the holidays!!

Healesville Sanctuary

The best place to plan a play date with mates and our local native animals has to be at Healesville Sanctuary.
As you enter the stunning sanctuary, under the wings of the iconic Bunjil eagle, waltz past the emus and then you will need to decide which way you will make your lap. Will you head left and wander through the canopy of the trees where the koalas love to call home, the Kangaroo Country and then around to the wildlife hospital? OR will you head to the right and start off with the mysterious dingoes, the wetland birds and the elusive lyrebirds?

Either direction you take, you CANNOT miss the famous Spirits of the Sky - birds of prey presentation, the Tassie devils, the incredible World of Platypus or the Reptile House!

How lucky are we! So many special memories have been made by millions of people over the last 100 years at the incredible Melbourne Zoo. It is always evolving and there is always something new to see.

First things first, meet your buddies at the gate and wander through the lemur exhibit, then come back around to enjoy the trail past the tigers and then on to see the majestic elephants. Oh and make sure you say hello to the new giraffe - Iris is her name!

Head through the jungle and on towards the beautiful vintage carousel, after a whizz around here and a quick play on the playground head under the sea to watch the seals frolic. Keep an eye out for the cute little penguins in their tuxedos too! Don’t miss Reptile House on your way down to see the lions!

During school holidays there are some special activations and a quiet library section near Rail Gate Lawn for kids to have fun and Mamma loves the indoor playspace Keeper Kids, complete with more craft, nature play and you can even join in on storytime! Then finish your adventure with a delicious lunch! Perfect.

Werribee Open Range Zoo

Plan a fun experience at Werribee Open Range Zoo - Mamma says the first point of call is to meet at the entrance to climb on the animal statues of course, then head in together to take a wander around the zoo trails to visit the gorillas, monkeys, the lion pride and to welcome the new male lion – Sheru, plus you must check out the African Wild Dogs. Oh don’t forget to have a play at the fantastic playground on the way to the Australiana trail, or keep on the path and pop on the rickety boat to see the hippos snoozing.

You’ll end up on the Safari bus, taking an exciting trip around the Savannah to see the rhinos and giraffes and then finish your day at the Meerkat Bistro with some hot chips and sandwiches while you watch the cute little meerkats playing from the comfort of the dining area.

This is just a snippet of the fun you can have at each zoo! There is so much to enjoy for ALL ages.
