You can’t visit Beechworth without noticing the rainbow coloured bottles available for sale everywhere. But which ones should you try? Head to the heart of it all - Last St Brewery. This cordial factory is super impressive. Established in 1865, the brewery is one of Australia’s oldest and has recently been lovingly restored and revitalised into this thriving tourist destination - and top notch beverage producers. Recently renamed from Billson’s, Last Street Brewery is a MUST VISIT spot on any Beechworth trip.
What makes this place a real special is the tasting process. Any flavour you like, you can sample it right from the main bar. Anything from Watermelon to Traditional Cola or Portello, Fruit Tingle or Grape Bubblegum, you can get a shot sized sample to taste. Watch the kids eyes light up when they hear that news!
Once you have decided on your favourite (or half a dozen favourites) you can grab the original cordial bottles, the cans of premixed sodas or even their adult beverages. As far as we have uncovered - there are no bad flavours so you can’t really go wrong - just depends on how sweet you like your drinks.
At Last St you can also tour the buildings prior to opening hours and learn all about the history of the site, how it fits into the story of Beechworth and then finish it all off with a meal at the restaurant - or a cocktail in the speakeasy bar!
