crest cafe, wantirna

Crest Cafe is still serving up the goods and it comes in the form of happy tummies and entertained toddlers! This local gem, once the Crestdale Milkbar, has kept some of that old school charm while dishing out top-notch brekkies and brunches.

Inside, the play corner is a hit, stocked with toys, books, and enough vehicles to make my little rev-head’s day. Out back, there’s a covered deck and a backyard that feels like a quintessential suburban backyard (with much better coffee). Picture a trampoline, swing set with a slide, and plenty of room for the kids to burn off that post-milkshake energy. It’s just missing the hills hoist.

The kids menu is a solid selection of classics done right. Mamma’s little food critics devoured the ham and cheese English muffins with a hash brown. We love a nod to the old milkbar days, and Crest has kept some of that history alive with a few shelves of lollies that are available to purchase at the counter. The kids will love picking out a special treat and might even spy a little Lego friend or two pointing them in the right direction.

For the grown-ups, the food is *chef’s kiss*. Mamma can personally vouch for the Mojo Rojo and the Eggs Benny, total winners. And if you fancy a bit of old-school relaxation, there’s even a newspaper on hand so you can pretend you’re reading while keeping one eye on the kids.

Mamma's special mention:  There are a handful of great little street parks in this residential area, but for a more substantial play, head to Templeton Reserve.
