yarra valley railway, healesville

There is another train that runs out our end of town and it is needing some more love! The Yarra Valley Railway is the home to a classic 1950s single carriage train that is working its way back to Yarra Glen. Currently, the train departs Healesville and makes it way through wineries and past the farms to Tarrawarra winery. The Tunnel is the highlight of the trip, but you might want to hold hands through this hundred year old passageway as it gets pretty dark!

The views are pretty spectacular and the train ride gives a whole new perspective of the area. The ride is around 45 minutes all up, perfect length for a toddler or preschooler on their first vintage train ride. The volunteers that run the entire operation are striving to extend the railway further to Yarra Glen.

Mamma's special mention: The railway station park over the road is one of Mamma's top picks for toddler play (bigger kids too) and it is a cutie with train themed equipment!
