future vets @ wildlife health centre, healesville sanctuary
/What better way to learn about caring for sick animals than through play. The Wildlife Health Centre has exactly that in the Future Vets Program at Healesville Sanctuary. Set up in the centre of the working hospital, this play space is the darn cutest thing EVER! A rack filled with uniforms sets the children's imagination firing. There is a stack of toys to choose from to care for, housed in their own crates. The children (or lets face it - adults) can scan their animals through the x-ray machine, feed them with the bottles, check heartbeats or simply test their mummy wrapping skills and bandage up the unwell animals. Brilliant space for visitors to play vets for the afternoon.
It is a working hospital, so there are chances to see the vets in action. The latest improvements now mean the working areas are blocked off from the play space, so you don’t have to see things if you don’t want to. But there are also some great new information displays all about caring for our wildlife out in the real world.
